Sealants

Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings painted on the chewing surfaces of your teeth to prevent tooth decay in the “pits and fissures” (see picture below). Typically, sealants are placed on 6-year and 12-year molars of young children as soon as these teeth have completely erupted. Food and bacteria are then unable to settle into the small grooves of these teeth and makes it easier for children to brush and keep these teeth clean well into adulthood.
